For the 20th year in a row, San Angelo ISD has earned a rating of “Superior Achievement” with a perfect score of 100 on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). FIRST is administered by the Texas Education Agency and calculated on information submitted to TEA via the district's Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) submission each year.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 7, 2022, San Angelo ISD and Lone Star Middle School received a report of a student having a handgun on campus. Immediately campus leaders and district administrators began an investigation in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department, searched the individual and campus, located and confiscated the handgun and the student is in custody. A Resource Officer is assigned to the campus to provide additional safety and security.
San Angelo ISD will begin morning bus transportation for high school students, grades 9-12, at Central High School, Central High School on Oakes, and Lake View High School, starting on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 with the beginning of the second semester. Additionally, we announce modified daily bell schedules for Central High School, Central High School on Oakes and Lake View High School starting January 3, 2023 for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year.
San Angelo ISD is proud to announce an outstanding partnership with the National Math and Science Institute (NMSI), the Department of Defense (DoD), and Goodfellow Air Force Base to launch the NMSI College Readiness Program which provides trainings, materials, and resources to our High School STEM Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Through dedicated funding from the DoD’s STEM Education and Outreach office, SAISD was awarded over $358,000 to be split based on enrollment for Central High School and Lake View High School and will go to support STEM learning in our classrooms and scholarships for students.
SAISD Class of 2023 Seniors explored over 70 booths from businesses, organizations and military branches as well as postsecondary academic opportunities as part of San Angelo ISD’s Senior Day for both Central and Lake View High School. The event held on the practice field at Central High School is designed to be one more way to help all SAISD students be “future-ready” whether that future is the military, workplace, or further academic studies, and merges a college and career fair with a counselor session and required CPR training.
San Angelo ISD proudly announces Christy Diego, Director of Emergent Bilingual, was honored Tuesday at the 23rd Annual San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Celebration of Diversity Awards Luncheon, which also featured Central High School Senior Samuel Spurgin as a speaker.
At the event, the Chamber recognizes and awards individuals and businesses that both reflect and support our community’s diversity. Mrs. Diego was awarded the Communicator Award, an award for work in providing information about issues and events important to minority communities, in recognition of her dedication to growing the SAISD Bilingual Program, now in its third year.
