Nominations Open for 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards

Do you know a San Angelo ISD teacher, principal or counselor who has positively impacted your student or our community? If so, you can recognize their hard work and dedication by nominating them for the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. The nomination form, which can be found at heb.com/nominate, is quick and easy to complete.

The H-E-B Excellence in Education Teacher Award recognizes teachers who show passion and commitment to the teaching profession, innovation and creativity in the classroom, and professional growth and development. The Principal Award recognizes principals who excel in campus leadership and culture, instructional leadership and management, and effectively communicates with their community. The Counselor Award recognizes school counselors who provide a safe, supportive and caring environment for all students.

Created in 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education awards are designed to honor outstanding public school professionals and to thank them for their dedication and commitment to the students in their area. Through this program, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and community and inspire others to do the same. Last year, the Excellence in Education award gave away $780,000 in cash awards and grants to educators and schools to assist with the expansion of their incredible programs.

Last year, San Angelo ISD’s very own Veronica Stapper, a 2nd-grade teacher at Glenmore Elem, was named the H-E-B Excellence in Education Lifetime Achievement Winner. For being nominated as finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award, which salutes teachers with more than 20 years of experience, Mrs. Stapper received a check for $1,000 and a $1,000-grant for Glenmore. Mrs. Stapper competed against four other Texas teachers for the title of 2024 Lifetime Achievement Elementary winner. As the Lifetime Achievement Winner, Mrs. Stapper received $25,000 in cash and a $25,000-grant for her school.

H-E-B Excellence in Education is now accepting nominations.
